Acting on an anonymous phone call, the police raid a house to arrest a suspected murderer. They dont know what he looks like but they know his name is John and that he is inside the house. Three switches outside a windowless room are connected to three light bulbs inside the room. How can you determine which switch is connected to which bulb if you are only allowed to enter the room once?
