For The Love Of Sugar
Jessy was an average girl that LOVED sugar. One day she decided to make a batch of cookies. She looked in her cabinet and saw that there was only one cup of sugar in there. Jessy went to the store and bought three cups of sugar. She put them ALL on the table. Jessy takes one. How many does she have?
Hint:
If you guessed one... you are absolutely right. There were some of the best tricks in this quiz. I will only tell one. But first I will tell you why you should have got that answer. In the beggining it says "She looked in her cabinet and saw that there was only one cup of suger in there." Many people forget about that part. Also, some people think that the riddle says that she takes away one. She doesn't. she TAKES ONE. She has ONE. One trick used in this was that I used many extra things in it that didn't have to do with the riddle. It just makes you examine them harder and gets you more confused. Rope Burn Riddle
You have two ropes. Each rope takes one hour to burn. These ropes are not identical, nor are they uniform; i.e. it does not necessarily take half an hour for half the rope to burn (if you have trouble visualizing this, imagine a rope of varying thickness across its length). With only these two ropes and a way to light them, how do you measure out 45 minutes?
Hint: You can light multiple ends and/or multiple ropes at the exact same time.
Light both ends of one rope, and only one end of the other rope. This will cause the first rope to burn out in 30 minutes. When the first rope burns out, there will be 30 minutes left on the second rope. So then, light the other end of the second rope, and the rest of it will burn out in 15 minutes. 30 + 15 = 45 minutes. The Dinner Party Riddle
You and your wife organize a dinner party. You invite four other husband-wife couples. You and your wife don't necessarily know everyone you invited. Once everyone is at the party, the people who don't know each other yet shake hands with each other. You can assume that everyone knows their own wife/husband, and that no one shakes their own hand.
After this happens, you ask each person, except for yourself, how many people they shook hands with. Everybody tells you a different number.
